POPCOM CARAGA SEEKS TO FIND AN ADDITIONAL SUPPLY OF PILLS AND CONDOMS AMID THE COMMUNITY QUARANTINE

BUTUAN CITY - The Commission on Population Development is preparing national guidelines for nationwide re-supply of pills and condoms amid the community quarantine.
POPCOM Regional Director, Alexander Makinano, announces that due to the government diverting all of their attention on the local preventive measures to avoid transmission of COVID-19, POPCOM is worried that the sexual and reproductive health rights of every Filipino will be sacrificed and compromised during the current national and local community quarantine.
The director, however, ensures that they will continue to provide information and services to the people, especially to couples, so that they know how to make informed decisions in family planning.
POPCOM adds that the government is in a major challenge right
now in implementing social distancing or physical distancing due to the enormous population size of the Philippines. They also advise that young people follow social distancing, which is at least one meter apart.
POPCOM is currently doing its job to re-supply the family planning commodity to parents.
