POLICE CONFISCATE 100K WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS

BUTUAN CITY - While police are busy with enforcing COVID-19 prevention laws in Butuan, they are still active in curbing crimes. Recently, the Butuan City Police Office and the PDEA-Caraga personnel confiscate an estimate of more than 100,000 pesos of illegal drugs from a man during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Baan on March 22, 2020.
Vincent Gaje was carrying four sachets of shabu worth about 119,180 PHP and weighs 10.10 grams. He was also carrying 1000 PHP worth of mark money, cell phone, and cash worth 380 PHP. Due to a large number of illegal drugs confiscated, the case does not recommend bail.
According to police lieutenant Abel Bulawan, spokesperson of the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), some people are now using this pandemic to commit illegal activities while the police are busy preventing COVID-19.
He maintains that although the police are busy at the checkpoints, they will continue their operations to curb crimes.
The suspect will face a misdemeanor charge violating R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 sections 5 and 11.
