NFA CARAGA TEMPORARILY STOPS THE SELLING OF NFA RICE TO RETAILERS

BUTUAN CITY - NFA Caraga temporarily stops the selling of NFA rice to retailers to meet the need of the LGUs during this COVID-19 crisis. They assure the public that there will still be a sufficient amount of rice. They emphasize that it is harvest season, so the public has nothing to worry about.
According to the regional manager for NFA Caraga, Diocano Alojado Jr, they need to prioritize the rice for the LGU and the DSWD. They are now doing intensive milling so that they can sell it right away to them. There will be some 165,000 bags of NFA rice, and every sack will weigh about 50 kilos.
For now, the NFA is doubling their time on milling rice so that they can produce enough volume for the people. Their selling of NFA rice to the LGU will reach up to three months or more. Besides, the selling of NFA rice to the retailers only happens when they need to refresh stock, following RA 11203. They are hopeful that by next week, they will be selling rice to the retailers.
