Updated: Feb 12, 2020

MONTILLA BLVD., BUTUAN CITY - Brgy. New Society Village residents strengthen its defense against the demolition forces who try to tear down their properties.
This is after the demolition was postponed yesterday because of the bad weather.
Boy Felicilda along with other residents placed barb wires and ropes around the perimeter of the said barangay, and they also used woods and wheels as barricades.
But this has become a disruption for some businesses which have been closed since yesterday. Eddie Duranggo, a fruit vendor in the barangay, said he is already losing worth P10,000, as his store has not yet reopened for two days.
A copy center and a salon owned by the president of the homeowner association remain open, though, albeit the several closed establishments in the area. While a fast-food chain puts up plywood against the glass windows in the outer side of their store for protection from the wreckage and objects of the demolition.
However, these plywood barriers are set to be removed the next day by the said fast-food chain, whereas other establishments choose to remain shut down for their safety, as long as the tension between the authorities and residents continues, even though it may cause financial loss to them.
