MAN DROWNS AT MASAO BEACH AFTER NO-SWIMMING POLICY WAS LIFTED


BUTUAN CITY – A 29-year old man identified as Aldrin Paden, single, resident of Purok 6 Sacor, Brgy. Tandang Sora, Butuan City, drowned at Masao beach on June 7, Sunday.


According to Police Lieutenant Abel Bulawan, the spokesperson of the Butuan City Police Office, the victim has possibly had epileptic seizures while swimming, causing him to drown.

PLt. Bulawan further said that first aid was administered, and he was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.


“Sumala usab sa ig-agaw sa biktima, kining si Mr. Paden adunay sakit nga Epelipsy, kining ginatawag nga psychological illness. Maoy pagtuo usab sa pamilya nga samtang naligo kini gi-atake sa maong sakit,” PLt. Bulawan said.


(According to the victim’s cousin, Mr. Paden has epilepsy, a psychological illness that the family thinks the reason why he got drowned.)


Furthermore, based on the police investigation, the victim was not under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened.
