BUTUAN CITY – The local government of Butuan made an appeal to the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the extension of the modified enhanced community quarantine in 40 barangays in the city after the MECQ from August 25 to September 7, to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases, which are mostly local transmission.

According to the spokesperson of LGU Butuan Michiko De Jesus, they are planning to implement the granular lockdown wherein a house and other specific areas experiencing spikes of positive cases will be placed on temporary lockdown during the extension of MECQ.

“Unsa man ning granular lockdown, pwede kita maka temporary lockdown, sa usa ka balay, sa usa ka building, or sa usa ka opisina, o establishimento, o purok sa usa ka lugar o barangay,” said spokesperson De Jesus.

(Granular lockdown allows us to place a specific house, buiLding, office, establishment, community, or barangay on temporary lockdown.)

However, LGU Butuan is still waiting for the RIATF to release a resolution in order to issue a new executive order.
