FIRE HITS VENTURA PLYWOOD IN BUTUAN CITY



BRGY. BANZA, BUTUAN CITY – Fire broke out in a private company of plywood manufacturer situated at Barangay Banza, Purok 2 Lilo, Butuan City at past 2:00 AM on Tuesday, January 21.


According to Kim Manatad, one of the workers, someone suddenly shouted “fire” while they were offloading the veneer. They tried to extinguish the fire but it was too late.


“…Mga 5 minutes nidako na ang kayo. Kusog na pud ang sunog diri sa pikas,” Manatad said.


(After five minutes the fire is already huge even at the other side.)


Some of the residents residing nearby the plywood manufacturing facility were immediately awakened because the blaze was quickly spreading.


Ricardo Laag, one of the residents, told the news team how the fire was already huge when they woke up, prompting them to carry their belongings outside their house.


“Pagmata namo mga alas 2:35, nagkagubot na sila. Nidako na ang kalayo. Nanguha mi sa among mga gamit. Tanan among gi-ari sa kalsada,” Laag said.


(There was a commotion when we woke up at around 2:35 AM. The fire was already huge. We then took all our things to the streets.)


Firefighters from neighboring areas helped in the said incident.


Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Butuan has yet to release an initial report of the fire incident.
