BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) Caraga announced that it will be conducting the measles-rubella supplementary immunization activity this coming October 26, with the help of the local government unit.

According to the DOH Caraga Regional Director, Jose R. Llacuna Jr., children from 9 to 59 months old will be given the measles-rubella vaccine.

“ So one month ni siya nga vaccination , atong mga target niini is 9 months up to 59 months kay mao ni ang likely population to have severe cases of measles so gitunong nato ni 9months up to 59 months, all over the region,“ the regional director said.

(So this will be for a month vaccination activity, and our targets are children between the ages of 9 to 59 months old because they are the likely population to have severe cases of measles.)

RD Llacuna further said they have received the vaccine last Monday and started the distribution all over the region.

(It will start on October 25, with the initial listing of possible health personnel to conduct the activity. Then they will visit house-to-house, or they may also negotiate the family in the cluster sitio to go to the station that will be set up to avoid overcrowding.)

During the activity, minimum health protocol will be observed wherein limited to 1 to 10 persons only in a specified area. RD Llacuna assured that health workers, children, and guardians will follow infection protection and control protocol.

(For double protection, in case your child is having a fever, cough, or cold and always crying, don’t force to attend the activity. Anyway, this is a month-long campaign. The child should be healthy before taking the injection. )

With this, Dr. Llacuna is asking the guardians for their cooperation with the campaign.
