DepEd LAUNCHES BAWAT BATA BUMABASA (3Bs) PROGRAM IN BUTUAN CITY

Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga launched the Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs) Program in different elementary and secondary schools in Butuan City on Monday, January 27, 2020, wherein it targets to achieve the quality education this year.
According to Felix G. Acebu, Principal III of Jose Domingo Sr. Central Elementary School, “Number one nga tumong ani is gitawag ni siya ug hamon nga unta ang tanan bata makabasa. Makabasa nga nakasabot sa ilang gibasa.” (The number one objective of this program is the challenge that all learners should be able to read and understand what they are reading.)
Last year’s national assessment revealed that the students in the country are poor in reading comprehension.
“Nakita nila (DEPED), based on studies nga sa pagkakaron, maybe of the gadgets nga ang mga bata murag nawala na ang ilang interest sa pagbasa,” said Lorna Baulete Saludes, Assistant Principal, Jose Domingo Sr. Central Elem. School.
(DepEd saw that based on studies, kids have no interest in reading, maybe because of gadgets.)
The 3Bs initiative promotes the students to learn oral communication, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
Principal III Acebu is looking forward for the educators, parents, stakeholders, along with the students, to work together for the improvement of quality education.
In the meantime, new books are expected to arrive for the students to use.
