COMELEC RESUMES VOTER REGISTRATION ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020


BUTUAN CITY – Commission on Election (COMELEC) Butuan announced the nationwide resumption of voter registration on September 1, 2020, after it was suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


In a phone patch interview with Atty. Samuel Rollo, the city election officer in COMELEC Butuan office, he said that they are implementing health and safety protocols following the guidelines set to bid the spread of the virus as their office operation recommences.


“I would like to inform nga nagsugod na starting today, September 1 ang registration. But please take note nga Tuesday to Saturday lang ni siya and 8 o’clock in the morning until 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and we encourage nga unta naa namoy form daan nga madala already filled up ang three copies and bring your own ballpen ,” stated by Atty. Rollo.


(I would like to inform you that the voter registration reopens starting today, September 1. But please take note that it will only be from Tuesday to Saturday, at 8 o’clock in the morning until 3 o’clock in the afternoon. We encourage that you bring three (3) copies of already filled-out forms and your own ballpen.)

Forms can be downloaded at comelec.gov.ph. However, the COMELEC Butuan office will also provide the form for those who can’t download from the website.


Atty. Rollo clarified that their office will cater to all transactions including registration, transfer, correction, and reactivation.


Before entering their office, clients must be wearing facemask and face shield otherwise will not be entertained, then must fill-out the health declaration form.


Furthermore, COMELEC Butuan will not conduct satellite registration in barangays while the pandemic is ongoing.


Requirements vary from each transaction. A new registrant must provide valid I.D and birth certificate. For corrections, bring any proof of what you want to be corrected. Those who are applying for transfer of registration must bring any valid I.D showing your new address.


Voter registration will last until September 2021.
