BUTUAN IMPLEMENTS STRICT INSPECTION AT CHECKPOINTS AMIDST THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
BUTUAN CITY - It will take a lot of patience to endure the long queuing at the entry and exit points situated in Brgy. Antongalon and Brgy. Bancasi, after the strict monitoring is enforced upon entering the city.
Everyone who is going to the city shall go through the thermal scanner to check the body temperature. If it’s above 37.5 degrees Celsius, that person shall be held for further screening, while those who are coming from other regions have to step out of the vehicle and submit to the health workers to get screened.
According to Alex Eltagon from Cagayan de Oro, he waited in line at 9 AM but was able to pass through at around 2 PM.
May Diez, the spokesperson in Butuan City LGU, said in an interview that these measures are taken in a bid to contain the spread of the Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the city.
Diez further said that though the duration of the strict checkpoints is still uncertain, this will be lifted upon the assurance of the city’s safety from the COVID-19 pandemic.
