BUTUAN CITY SELECTS 5 INFRA PROJECTS TO PRIORITIZE FOR DEVELOPMENT

BUTUAN CITY - The 4th and last Stakeholders’ Workshop on the Master Plan of Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development in the city happened on March 3, Tuesday.
According to Arch. Michael Tomeldan, an environmental planner from NEDA, 5 infrastructure projects are selected to prioritize for the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development to build in Butuan City. The projects are as follows:
• SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
• URBAN TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
• BUSINESS IT PARK
• REGIONAL GOVERNMENT CENTER
• BOOD PROMITORY ECO PARK
The said projects have a pre-feasibility study presented to show the early-stage analysis of the development. Project implementation will then commence based on the result of this discussion.
Chita Asis, private sector representative said, one of her suggestions during the workshop was not to focus on the construction of the building alone but to pay attention as well on the human development such as the solid waste management project where there are residents who might lose their source of income – adding she believes this idea has been considered by NEDA, Butuan LGU, and other agencies involved, during the four workshops conducted.
One of the benefits seen upon the implementation of these projects is the provision of more employment opportunities for the Butuanon and Caraganons.
