BCPO SEIZES P40,000 WORTH OF LAUAN LUMBER

BRGY. SAN VICENTE, BUTUAN CITY – Authorities confiscated Lauan lumber worth P40,000 at the Macapagal Bridge checkpoint in Sitio Bingkilan, Barangay San Vicente, Butuan City on March 4, Wednesday.
In the words of PLt. Abel Bulawan, spokesperson in Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), a suspicious fully-tainted van suddenly stopped before the checkpoint post in Villa Kananga, when the driver and his companion immediately ran away as the police were approaching.
790 Lauan lumber board feet were found inside the container van.
BCPO is still investigating where the Lauan came from and to whom the van is registered.
Meanwhile, the 2 suspects who fled will be facing the charges of violating the Presidential Decree 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
